Five years ago, just 10% of Australians lived in flats or apartments, this has risen year on year as more Australians opt for the perks of community living that units and apartments provide. There are many reasons more people are opting for apartment living. Integrated building management solutions improve the level of convenience, security and ease of apartment living far beyond what’s available if you choose a house as your home.
By adding community facilities like pools and shared spaces, owners of residential developments create a desirable community people want to join. But the lure of apartments and community-living convenience goes far beyond access to a pool, simplified maintenance issues or secure parking when the right community management software is chosen.
When an eco-system of technology partners is created with building management software at its core, the livability and convenience of apartments and units are enhanced exponentially. The work that goes on behind the scenes – the building management software holding it all together – has the greatest impact on residents. When this delivers a heightened level of convenience, residents fall in love with their apartments and never want to move away. That’s when integrated building management software really begins adding value for community residents.
Alexa, what’s happening in the building this weekend?
For both Alexa and Google Home, BuildingLink has created specific skills that make life easier for residents. From wondering where that package you ordered is, through to checking on the status of maintenance requests or building events, integration with smart home technology allows residents to do more – even when their hands are busy.
The BuildingLink app puts the functionality of the resident’s portal at community members’ fingertips. Thanks to the integration with smart speaker technology so much of that ease and convenience are now on the tips of residents’ tongues!
Leave my parcel in my locker
Not so much an integration but a home-grown BuildingLink tool, ImageR allows parcels delivered to community reception areas to be easily matched to residents’ details. When notified a parcel has arrived, residents are able to use the BuildingLink resident app to authorise the release of their package – no need to sign shared screens.
Work is currently underway with a package locker company that will enable even swifter delivery as parcels will be securely held in lockers with residents being sent a code to unlock the locker and access their item.
Open Sesame!
Integrations with Brivo and OpenPath enable residents to gain keyless entry into shared communal areas. Digital keys are made available on the resident’s app which can then be swiped to provide access. No more lost keys, no more getting locked out and better security!
Doors and locks need to be either Brivo or OpenPath compatible to enable this integration. Door access integrations have the additional benefit of providing building managers with a better understanding of how communal areas are used. This means cleaning and maintenance tasks can be streamlined to ensure costs are reduced while quality is increased.
